Vintage Trans Am Update

Testing continues on the Novak 25.5 motor and things are looking great for our track! We've turned several laps with our 25.5 motors and the speed is perfect or our track size. If you think slow is boring then you've never turned laps with us. Testing has shown that you need to drive the perfect line to stay ahead of the pack. This puts the focus back on driving and away from spending time and money on speed. Another club in Canada is using the same motors in their oval program and have reported nothing but success on the RCTech.net forums. If you are looking for something different to do with your old touring car, give Vintage Trans Am a try and come join us in Palm Bay.

***** If you are curious but not willing to spend the money on a 25.5 motor yet, come join us anyway! Some of our club members were hesitant to try the motor so we had them turn down the EPA on their throttle to match our slower speeds on the straight and they are hooked! *****

We're a group of radio control car enthusiasts who enjoy racing cars with a more realistic appearance. Our track is a temporay installation at the Space Coast Harley-Davidson dealership in Palm Bay, Florida. We race the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month starting at 10am. Electricity is available onsite, just bring an extension cord. If you have a table and pop up tent bring that as well.

We are currently moving to the Vintage Trans Am class. This class features slower speeds and muscle car bodies to put the emphasis on driving and having fun. We appreciate the blazing fast speeds of Touring Car racing and the skill that goes along with it, but we are building a club from the ground up and we are looking for newer and returning racers to come have fun with us. The slower speeds of Vintage Trans Am really helps to get new drivers on the stand and having fun.

The driver's stand is complete and we have purchased a timing system!! We are currently using the I-Laps Timing system. This system is an alternative to the AMB Timing system and uses infrared transponders to time the cars. The system works flawlessly in the bright Florida sun and we have several transponders to rent or purchase.

FEES- To help offset the purchase of the timing system and other materials, we charge $2 to race and $2 for transponder rental. Yes, that's a whopping $4 for three qualifiers and a main. Time and weather permitting, we can sometimes run two more qualifiers and a main. We still have a few used I-Lap transponders for sale at $30. However, you can buy them new directly from I-Laps at www.rclapcounter.com
